Confident behind the microphone.
Event host, MC, and panel moderator in Ottawa
Victoria Williston spent years as a broadcast anchor and interviewer before running a downtown district organization. She brings the same preparation, timing, and composure to a conference panel, a gala, or a corporate event: keeping the programme moving, drawing out guests and speakers, and handling the moments that don't go to plan.
What she can do
- Moderating conference panels and industry discussions
- Hosting galas, fundraisers, and awards nights
- MC for corporate receptions, launches, anniversaries, and client events
- Interviews and fireside conversations with executives, guests, and public figures on stage
- Speaker introductions and keeping the programme on time
- Hosting community, civic, and public events, including town halls and Q&As

Preparation, not just presence
A good host is the least surprised person in the room. The process is simple, and most of it happens before the event.
- 01
Brief
Victoria learns the purpose of the event, who is in the room, who is speaking, what needs to be said, and what must not be, and what a successful evening looks like for you.
- 02
Prepare
She researches the organization and the speakers, prepares questions, and introductions, works through the run-of-show with your team, and plans for the things that go wrong: a late speaker, a failed microphone, an over-long speech.
- 03
Host
On the day she keeps the programme to time, keeps the energy in the room, makes every speaker look good, and gives the audience a clear sense of where the evening is going.
Booking questions
How does booking work, and what does it cost?
Hosting and moderation are usually a flat fee, quoted after a short conversation about the event, the audience, and the programme. Preparation is included: Victoria briefs with you, researches the speakers, and works through the run-of-show with your team before the day. The first conversation is free.
Where does she host?
Ottawa and the National Capital Region most often, and across Canada by arrangement; travel is scoped into the fee.
Does she host in French?
Victoria hosts in English. For bilingual events she can pair with a French-language co-host or moderator and run the programme as a team, or source and brief a bilingual host for you.
Need another voice?
Sometimes the right host for your event is someone else: a particular tone, a language, a familiar face for your audience. Victoria can source and coordinate a host or moderator who fits the tone and audience of your event, and brief them properly.
